Proper and respectful living conditions

Considering that- Seniors who reside in public nursing homes and in private nursing homes do not receive the care worthy of our society that defines itself as being civilized,

Considering that- The Premier of Quebec, Pauline Marois and the Minister of Health and socila services of Quebec, Réjean Hébert do not seem concerned about our elders poor living conditions,

Considering that- The is a Lack of staff providing care to older persons who live in public nursing homes and in private nursing homes,


Considering that- The care provider-patient ratios in public  and private nursing homes is inadequate,

Considering that- Many Individuals as well as organisms and various reports in the media denouncing the quality of life as inadequate and in some cases as dangerous,


We urge the government of Quebec to hold, as soon as possible, a broad provincial consultation on the lives of elderly residents in public nursing homes and private nursing homes in order to identify gaps and Improve the quality of life of each beneficiary. This consultation will also improve the working conditions of each worker in order to allow him to provide quality humane health care,

We ask That this consultation hears a minimum of 300 people living in private and public nursing homes and a minimum of 300 workers such as orderlies, nursing assistants and nurses. Only people dispensing health care to patients will be Consulted. Persons holding positions of leadership and management and department heads can not intervene or participate in this consultation,

In addition we ask ounce That the consultation is complete, the Quebec government Publicly release recommendations resulting from this consultation within a reasonable time,

Finally, we ask the government to apply the recommendations issued by this consultation which must result in better  quality of life for elderly people living in public and private nursing homes.nu
